2027: ‘No Vacancy In Little Rayfield’ — Mutfwang Inaugurates Tinubu/Mutfwang Campaign Council

Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has formally inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, calling for renewed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, himself and all APC candidates in the state.

The inauguration, held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Government House, Rayfield, Jos, brought together party leaders, political stakeholders and campaign coordinators as the APC commenced its coordinated mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the people of Plateau State for their support and confidence in his administration, noting that while significant progress had been recorded in critical sectors, more work remained to be done.

The Governor maintained that his administration deserved another mandate to consolidate ongoing projects and development programmes, emphasising that governance was a continuous process requiring consistency and sustained commitment.

“There is no government that ends everything. Every government is a relay. Our duty is not to make others look bad; it is to see how we can collectively make Plateau State look better,” he stated.

On security, Mutfwang acknowledged the challenges confronting the state but assured residents that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property. He disclosed that plans were underway to facilitate the safe return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral communities.

He further revealed that the state expected to commission another batch of retrained Operation Rainbow personnel and deploy at least 800 trained forest guards in the coming weeks to strengthen security, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Addressing the prevailing economic challenges, the Governor defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, noting that the country required time to overcome longstanding fiscal and structural challenges. He urged Nigerians to appreciate the circumstances under which the Federal Government assumed office in 2023.

Highlighting his administration’s interventions to cushion the effects of economic hardship, Mutfwang cited the introduction of Tin City Metro buses, the revival of rail services within the Jos metropolis, a 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees for students in state-owned tertiary institutions and a 300 per cent increase in student allowances.

He also acknowledged the benefits of the Federal Government’s student loan and scholarship interventions, which he said had provided financial support to Plateau indigenes pursuing higher education.

On party unity and electoral mobilisation, the Governor charged members of the campaign council to bridge political divisions, embrace humility and work collectively towards securing victory for the APC at all levels.

He emphasised that the success of the party in 2027 would largely depend on its grassroots structures, urging campaign officials to return to their respective wards, constituencies and local government areas to mobilise voters.

“The votes are in the polling unit. They are not in Jos. Everybody can only matter in the locality where you come from,” he stressed.

Mutfwang also charged party faithful to embrace peaceful political engagement, insisting that the campaign must be factual, issue-based and devoid of bitterness, intimidation or unnecessary political confrontation.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Mutfwang/Piyo 2027 Governorship Campaign Council, Sir Joseph N. Ari, KSM, KSS, OON, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the council.

Ari pledged that the campaign would be driven by discipline, teamwork, effective organisation and responsible political engagement. He commended the Governor’s Time Is Now policy direction, particularly its emphasis on unity, mutual respect and development.

The campaign Director-General disclosed that the council had received expressions of support from 115 support groups, alongside solidarity visits and assurances of cooperation from traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths and other organised groups across the state.

He assured that the campaign would remain factual, issue-based and inclusive, with deliberate efforts to engage communities and communicate the policies and programmes of the APC-led administrations.

Ari also called on Plateau residents and APC supporters to turn out en masse on November 14, 2026, to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other national party leaders during their scheduled visit to the state.

In his remarks, the Plateau State APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, described the inauguration as a significant step towards building a formidable and coordinated political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bature underscored the importance of grassroots mobilisation, party loyalty, effective communication and accountability, urging appointed members of the campaign council to discharge their responsibilities diligently and avoid complacency.

He further assured stakeholders that the party remained open to accommodating more members as preparations for the elections gathered momentum.

With the inauguration of the campaign council, the APC in Plateau State has formally commenced its 2027 mobilisation efforts, with Governor Mutfwang calling for unity, sustained engagement and renewed commitment towards securing victory for President Tinubu, his administration and all party candidates.
