Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi Refunds SSCE, UTME Fees, Pays For Candidates

Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives has refunded the registration fees for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the National Examination Council (NECO) and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)] to candidates in the Plateau State. 

Gagdi represents Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC) umbrella.

This gesture was disclosed by Nde John Gobak, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Constituency on Thursday in Pankshin.

Gobak, who is a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), made the disclosure at the inauguration of three committees for the verification and disbursement of WAEC and the balance of NECO fees for 2022.

The former Secretary commended Gagdi for the intervention, noting that over 10,000 students benefited from the gesture.

”Because of his desire to encourage constituents, particularly the younger generation who are desirous to pursue further education, in 2021, he refunded the UTME registration fee of 2,194 candidates at the rate of N12,000 each.

”He also spent over N73 million to refund the WAEC and NECO registration fees for 3,412 candidates in June 2022.

”Currently, he has made available over N96 million for the refund of WAEC and NECO fees for students that their parents had paid before the intervention in 2022.

”In summary, the lawmaker has spent over N181 million to support the education of 10,177 students in this constituency,” Gobak said.

He stated that the committees will ensure that the fees are refunded directly to the beneficiaries, their parents or guardians.

The elder statesman noted that the committees would commence their duties on Monday, January 23, calling on all beneficiaries to go to their respective Area Inspectorates Offices in the three Local Government Areas for verification and refunding.

He further stated that he is leading a special committee responsible for monitoring the disbursement of the funds to the beneficiaries.

Gobak also lauded the several projects initiated and completed by Gagdi in various sectors, urging members of the constituency to vote for the lawmaker in the forthcoming election.
