The 2023 Plateau Gubernatorial Debate which took place on Saturday 28th January and aired live on radio and television and on various social media platforms was adjudged to be a huge success owing to the massive support and attention it received from the general public.
Following the successful debate, the PDG would like to state the following:
That we appreciate the general public and particularly Plateau citizens for participating in the online poll and market survey across the 17 local government areas that helped in selecting candidates for the debate.
Thank you for showing genuine interest in the build-up to the debate till the very last minute on the day of the debate. We thank the 4 governorship candidates for graciously participating in the 2023 Plateau Gubernatorial Debate. We appreciate ALL our partners including media partners and supporters for their immense contribution to the success of the 2023 gubernatorial debate.
We thank the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS Kuru for providing us with the venue for the debate in their very serene environmentOur special thanks go to the security agencies including the Nigerian Police Force, the DSS, NSCDC, FRSC and Operation Rainbow for providing adequate security in the general area and within the parameters of the debate.
Finally, the PDG would like to categorically state that it is not involved in any post-debate poll to rate or grade the candidates.
As such, we dissociate ourselves from any post-debate ratings in circulation.
If some entities felt the need to rate the performance of the candidates after the debate, it is entirely their prerogative and has nothing to do with the Plateau Debate Guild.
As a guild, we will continue to pursue our objectives one of which is to stimulate an issue-based political environment where candidates are assessed on the strength of their vision for the state and not on sentiments such as religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
Also, the PDG plans to engage the winners of the elections at various levels to keep track of campaign promises to deepen good governance.Thank you
