The Independent National electoral commission says a supplementary election will be conducted for the Plateau Central senatorial zone
INEC Resident Electoral commissioner in the state, Tersoo Agundu who spoke to the gentle men of the press said the election for the plateau central senatorial zone was declared inconclusive by the returning officer for the senatorial election.
He said no date has been set for the conduct of the supplementary elections.
“We forwarded the report of that elections to the headquarters and we are waiting for the date for us to conduct the elections to add up and make declarations.
Gagdi ward in Kanam Local government area which is the ward in dispute has a total voter registration of about 11 thousand and data shows of this number, PVC collection is over 10 thousand hence and in line with the margin of lead principle, the commission took a decision conduct a supplementary election for the ward..
The REC said this is necessary so that a proper winner will emerge.
Mr Agundu said all attempt by the stakeholders to resolve the matter including a suggestion to revert to the form EC8A did not yield any positive result because the stakeholders insisted on the cancellation of the result.
However the PDP candidate on Wednesday led a few members of his constituents and other party stalwart to the state INEC office to present a letter of complaint and to ask the electoral body to declare him winner of the election.
