ELECTION SAGA: 15 Chapters break away from the Law Student’s Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) National Body. More to Join…
At the 4th General Congress of the Law Student’s Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) held at Zeus Paradise Hotel in Abuja from the 9th day of September, 2020 to the 12th day of September 2020. 15 Faculties of Law spread over Nigeria have unanimously decided to Break away from the National Body.
They cited the following as some of the reasons for their action ;
- The flagrant disregard of the LAWSAN constitution by the Electoral Committe by failing to disqualify an aspirant for the position of National President even after discovering that the said candidate was a 500 Level student whereas the constitution clearly states in Section 16 (1a) that any candidate aspiring for the position of the National President shall be in the Penultimate class… That is he/she should be in the 400 Level class.
- The unjust disqualification of an presidential aspirant MR. FRANK JUSTICE
- And numerous other contraventions of the LAWSAN constitution.
The Chapters have however given a 7 day ultimatum to relevant stakeholders to address the issues raised or their decision will be final.
