The management of University of Ghana (UG) is set to complete the remaining weeks of the second semester through an online teaching and learning.

In a press release sighted by Razak Ghana headlined IMPORTANT NOTICE: ROLL OUT OF ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING, the management has finally approved a proposal that teaching and learning for the remaining seven weeks should be done online using the school’s Sakai Learning Management System (SLMS).

This follows the directive by the president of Ghana that all gatherings should be suspended for now in order to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The new teaching and learning method is scheduled to take place on the 30th March, 2020 and end on the 15th of May, 2020, a day according to them is vacation.

According to the management, the reason behind this new method of teaching and learning is for the learners to successfully complete the courses they have signed up for. They have observed that the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus never mitigate but rather escalate.

They added that management is still working with telecom companies to get free access to LMS platforms for all students. Vodafone according to them have accepted their request and arrangements to distribute Vodafone sims to all learners are underway.
