CKay has been in the news as of late, and it’s for a lot of good things.
The new Ckay these days brings only good tidings as the singer has transcended and transformed from up-and-coming artist to the new school afrobeats poster boy.
Since his 2019 hit, “Love Nwantiti” went viral and became a global hit—by bursting into the Billboard Hot 100, he has been the talk of the town. Rightfully so. The only other song from recent times that is bigger than his timeless hit is Wizkid’s “Essence” with Tems. On which note, Ckay lays claim to a top spot that is exclusive to big guys like Wizkid.
Ckay might look like an overnight success, but the guy isn’t a fluke.
With his captivating spiritual sound that has been likened to that of Rema, Ckay just needs to prove that he can make hits, and he’s not just some one-hit-wonder that’s going away after this heat.
Already he has followed up with “Emiliana,” a hit that mirrors the kind of sound he has been championing on his “Boyfriend” project from 2020. The sound, tentatively termed the ‘indian sound’ by Nigerian music fans, is something that CKay has mastered and is doing better than most of his peers right now.
His latest release, “Maria” even has the guy fusing the Afrobeats sound with some element of EDM which would mean that the song can be positioned to once again be a hit outside Nigeria. Maybe TikTok will come to his aid one more time again or not.
One thing is sure though, CKay’s got it. And right now when it comes to this new school sound, he’s the best there is out there. Not Rema, not Victony, or even Omah Lay. CKay all the way. This shouldn’t be a debate.
Do You Agree That Ckay Is Better Than Rema, Omah Lay, And The Others?
